In order to be certified to dive in Greece you will need to have your Open Water Scuba Diving certification. Having your Open Water certification allows you to scuba dive internationally without the presence of an instructor. In order to become a certified scuba diver you must be in good health, at least 10 years old, and should be a reasonably good swimmer.

To obtain your certification you should visit a local PADI or NAUI certified dive centre. Once you obtain your Open Water Scuba Diving certification you will be permitted to dive anywhere in the world, rent equipment and/or buy air fills for your tanks. This certification will ensure you know the basics of diving; some book/study time is required on your part. A typical certification course includes one pool dive and four open water dives. The scuba instructor will test your scuba diving skills during your last open water dives. The certification limits the depth you can dive to 60 to 100 feet below the surface. If you are interested in obtaining your certification visit the following sites:
PADI - PADI is the Professional Association of Diving Instructors, the largest scuba certification organization in the world. PADI develops scuba programs and diver training products, monitors scuba training conducted by more than 100,000 PADI Professionals worldwide, maintains diver certification records and issues your diver certification credentials. In addition, PADI maintains various support services for PADI Dive Centers and Resorts. Since its inception in 1966 PADI has grown to have members in more than 175 countries and territories and international service offices in nine countries. Approximately seven out of ten North American divers are certified by PADI, and approximately 55 percent of all divers worldwide are certified by PADI. (http://www.padi.com/english/default.asp?o=can)

NAUI's purpose is to enable people to enjoy underwater activities as safely as possible by providing the highest quality practical education, and to actively promote the preservation and protection of the world's underwater environments. NAUI trains, qualifies, and certifies leaders and instructors, establishes minimum standards for various levels of diver training, and provides various programs, products, and support materials to assist NAUI leaders and instructors with their diving supervising and teaching. NAUI's primary purpose is also reflected in the association's motto, "Dive Safety Through Education." The NAUI organization also provides publicity and support for dive stores, dive resorts and accredited institutions that offer diving education. As a pioneer in diving education, NAUI has developed many of the programs and concepts accepted throughout the diving industry. (http://www.naui.org/)
Valef Yachts is one of the first yachting companies in Greece to offer scuba diving yachting trips for certified divers. Scuba diving guides and scuba diving equipment can be provided aboard your own private yacht, should you choose. Otherwise, if you are a more experienced diver you can design your own diving itinerary. For further information visit Valef Yachts.
If you are currently certified but have lost your scuba diving certification card you can go to your local certification center and apply for a replacement card. It takes about two weeks to replace a certification card so be sure to plan ahead.
