Why is there such a strong interest in the discovery of shipwrecks? Why are people so fascinated with something that happened so long ago?

Shipwrecks are so fascinating to people because they represent something rich and enchanting, yet strange and unknown. Much of the fascination of shipwrecks lies in the stories that they produce such as the world renowned story of the Titanic. People are fascinated with the tragedy that these awful events produced, along with the treasures that are waiting for discovery at the bottom of the ocean floor.
The discovery of lost ships is increasing radically. It has been said that there is a wrecked ship for every mile of Greece's coastline. This is probably an exaggeration; however, it is not far off. Thousands of small ships and large vessels are recorded to have met tragedy throughout the Greek Seas.
The Greek Government has only recently opened the Greek waters for scuba divers to explore. Therefore this section of the website was developed to help give you some information on the history of underwater archaeology how to go about finding a shipwreck in Greece and some of the possible shipwreck locations in Greece.
If you are pursuing information regarding taking a scuba diving trip around these probable shipwreck locations contact Valef Yachts at 800-223.3845.
